Urban Decay Shadow Ammo Box

I’ve had this palette for a while, when I first got it I would use it all the time, but for some reason I had put it into storage, and it only resurfaced the other day.

Above are the various swatches from the palette, the colours are very complementary and It would be great for if you’re just starting out with eye shadows, or if you’re a seasoned professional and want to create some unique looks.

It was produced for Urban Decay’s 10th anniversary and they describe it as containing “10 of their best selling shades”. All of the colours are highly pigmented and blend really well. Quite a few of the shades are very glittery so you do experience some fallout, however it’s nothing that can’t be fixed.

My Favourites would have to be:
Smog
Maui Wowie
Last Call

You get really great colour pay off with all 3 of them, and I’ve found that Smog and Maui Wowie really complement each other. (see my 21st Birthday party look below) Also Last Call blends really nicely with Grifter

Last Call and Grifter blended together.

My least favourites are probably:

Oil Slick
Polyester Bride

I don’t generally tend to use black or really dark colours as eye shadows, maybe for a darker smoky eye look but when I tried this out on myself It didn’t suit me at all. So I would probably use oil slick to just line my eyes, with a wet slanted brush. Polyester Bride gives more of a shimmery look to the eyes, it would work well as a highlighter. But I wouldn’t really use it for colour on my eyelid.

I had a friend’s 21st birthday at the weekend and thought I’d use the palette to create a kind of shimmery bronzed look for my eyes. I used Smog on my eyelids and Maui Wowie on the crease and blended both of them outwards. I used MAC’s fluidline gel eye liner in Blacktrack to line my upper lids, and then used a combination of MAC’s Opulash in Bad, Bad Black and Maybelline’s Vollum’ Express Cat Eyes Mascara in Glam Black.

And this is me just before going out! Aside from my eyes I used Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua in B20 for my foundation, Collection 2000’s Lasting Perfection concealer in Light, and then MAC’s mineralize blush in Gentle.

My outfit was pretty simple, just a plain black blazer from H&M, my beaded vest was from Miss Selfridge, and my black trousers were from Zara a few weeks ago(soooo comfortable, If you are looking for a new pair of black trousers I totally recommend them, ‘ponte di roma’ trousers). Finally I just wore some black wedges from New Look.

Have you rediscovered anything you used to use all the time recently?
