Meow Parlour, NYC

So now I’ve firmly cemented myself as that girl who goes around reviewing Cat Cafes I thought It would only be fair to check out one in New York.

There are actually a couple in New York, but I decided on Meow Parlour located in the Lower East Side in Chinatown. I pre-booked a time slot of half an hour as the cafe charges entry on a half hour basis.

On arrival you take your shoes off, are explained the house rules and told about the food options. The cafe is partnered with the Meow Parlour Patisserie based around the corner from the Cafe. It serves all sorts of treats. You can order from a menu and someone will go out and get the food from the Cafe across the road and bring it in for you.

This cat called Misty really reminded me of the fluffy cat in the O2 adverts!

The thing I like most about this Cafe is that all of the cats are adoptable. If I was living in New York this would be an extremely dangerous lure for me. I’d probably want to adopt them all.

Like the other Cafes I’ve been to there are lots of toys around for the cats to play with. Also Meow Parlour was very clean and tidy. I had particular fun with a little kitten named Stevie who was very keen on chasing around a mouse toy that I found.

As previously mentioned the Cafe charges admission on a half hour basis, at $5 per hour plus tax. I think half an hour to an hour would be a good amount of time for most people as it allows you to sit down, play with the cats and have something to eat.  It does accept walk-ins but I pre-booked because I know how popular these types of places can be at times.

I’d really recommend going here If you are looking for something a little bit different to do in NYC. For reference it was about a 15 minute walk away from the Ground Zero site.
