Disapointing Products: L’Oreal Paris Infallible Primer

Every now and then you buy a product on a whim, and it turns out to be, well, disappointing. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Primer Matte Base was one of these products unfortunately.

I was looking for a new primer that would help keep my oily skin at bay. I had been using the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and had come to the end of it. Although I loved it, it is extremely pricey at £52 for 30ml. So when I stumbled across this primer in Boots that claimed to minimise shine, mattify the skin and give it a velvet touch for £7.99 in a large tube it was definitely confirmed as more purse friendly option.

The first thing I’ll say about this product is that it feels so greasy to the touch. I applied it before I put my foundation on, and after I’d applied my foundation and moved on to my eyebrows it was literally slipping off my skin, my eyebrows were all smeary and overall it was a hot mess.

I definitely didn’t notice it minimising my pores and unfortunately I felt more greasy and oily than I usually do. I was only using a small amount of the product but the oilyness prevailed.

Has anyone else tried this product? I’m still forever looking to find a primer to solve my oily skin woes!

  • I love the Wilko Kiss Primer, it's so affordable at £3 and I have 3 back up tubes! I've also heard great things about S&G One Heck of a Blot Primer, but I'm yet to try it myself! I really liked this primer you've written about, but maybe that's because I have more combination-dry skin! Although I really don't get on with the L'Oreal Mattifying Foundation that goes with this primer.

  • Woah that's super affordable! I've heard good things about s&g too – funnily i've had a few people say they got on quite well with this primer – my skin just doesn't like it!

  • It's such a shame when an impulse purchase disappoints. I hate the thought of an oily primer. I've just bought NYX Angel Veil which may be a good compromise, although I've not had a chance to properly test it out yet.
