How To: A Red Festive Christmas Makeup Look

Christmas is a time when I really get to relax, no early mornings and running for the train to get to work, no 12 hour days and no stress, which means I get lots more time to spend doing things like my make up, which I usually slap on as quickly as humanly possible in the mornings. I thought I’d spend this post talking you through a little Christmas makeup look that I put together (it’s super easy) – I’d wear a look like this on Christmas day itself, or if I was going out for some Festive drinks, so lets go:

Here we have my bare face (terrifying I know!), I always start my makeup routine by moisturising and I use the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser. This is a great lightweight moisturiser and its nice and gentle on my sensitive skin.

Above you can see all my base staple make up products. I moisturise with Simple and prime with NYX Angel Veil which Is a great combination for my oily skin. I’ve used Estee Lauder Double Wear Light for years and always got on well with it so I haven’t changed. I’ve recently started using the MAC Prolongwear Concealer in NW20 in combination with the Kiko Dark Circle Eraser under my eyes which I find is great for erasing bags.

I fill in my eyebrows with the Brow Satin pencil in shade “medium brown” from Maybelline. Then I set them with Benefit’s Ready, Set, Brow! gel.

After my base make up comes the powder. I swear by Laura Mercier powder, this stuff is AMAZING. If you suffer from concealer creasing under your eyes I would 1000% recommend you pick up the Secret Brightening Powder. Dabbing this under my eyes with a sponge and I will blend it out.  It’s translucent so it goes un-noticed but it really makes a difference. Then I powder my face with the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, again another lovely powder that helps to keep oily skin at bay and keeps everything matte.

See below for before and after blending!

Now onto the fun stuff, for my eye makeup I used the Sephora Primal Instincts Palette. I used a single shade which can be found in the top row, four along, called Apricot. A pretty and delicate bronze colour. I use Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance before applying any eyeshadow to my eyes also as it stops it from budging. I lined my eyes with the Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliner and finished off with my old favourite Stay Perfect Mascara by No7.

For blush I kept it super simple with this pretty matte from Tarte in the shade “flush”. The main part of my look was this bold red lip. I prepped my lips first using an eos lipbalm and then applied a NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Monte Carlo.
