Top 5 Products for Oily Skin

I’ve always suffered from oily skin, from as long as I can remember. The minute I hit puberty It took hold and didn’t show any signs of letting up.

Quite often I would apply my make-up in the morning, leave the house and by the time I got to my destination my face would be an oily mess. Due to this I’ve had a lot of time to refine my routine and the products I use to keep the oil at bay. I thought I’d share today in the hope that I can help someone else who also suffers from the dreaded shine!

Before I start I make sure my face is clean and free from any product. If I’m going out somewhere special I’ll start by applying a Derma v10 Nose Strip. I know nose strips are notoriously expensive but I actually found these in the pound shop!! With 6 for a pound they are more than worth it.

Once I’ve moistened my face and applied the strip I wait 15 minutes and then remove it. I find this mattifies my nose quite nicely and gives it a good base for applying product.

I then apply my Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing moisturiser. Again this is an affordable product that runs at about £4.50 a bottle. I follow up with my Becca Ever Matte primer. This is probably my most expensive product in the routine, and it’s a travel size that I got from Sephora for $15.

With my face nicely primed and moisturised I move on to my foundation. Currently I am using Bourjois Air Mat. I find it gives an even coverage and it dries matte. I had used Estee Lauder Doublewear Light for many years. Recently I found it was making me more oily than usual so I decided to switch it out for something else.

Finally I powder my face with Rimmel Stay Matte in the shade Transparent with a Real Techniques Kabuki Brush. I’ve been using this product for years and years and find it never makes me look cakey and blends like a dream.

Those are the base make up products in my arsenal to fight back against oily skin. If you too have oily skin feel free to leave me a comment on the products that you use to help your face stay matte. I’m always on the lookout for new items to add to my regime!
