Balayage Hair Experience at Headmasters Brentwood

I had been itching to do something with my hair for quite a while. With my wedding approaching I didn’t want to do anything drastic that I might regret. After the day had passed though I immediately started looking round at local salons that could carry out a balayage hair treatment. I settled on a local salon about 5 minutes from my house and had the treatment done. At first I was reasonably happy with the result. On closer inspection though I realised they had been quite heavy handed and applied quite blocky colour in places. When I tied my hair in a pony tail I had a weird single blonde badger stripe where they had applied the colour and I wasn’t massively happy.

It was around this time that I also got talking to Lina who works at Headmasters. She told me that they were opening a new salon in Brentwood and were looking for bloggers in the surroundings areas to come down and check it out. I went along to their opening party and was immediately struck by what a fresh and cool salon it was. After looking through all of their hair menus I was amazed at the range of treatments and services they offer to clients. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to have my hair coloured at Headmasters in Brentwood. So today I’m sharing my experience of getting my hair re-done by the lovely salon manager Laura and how my hair went from not great to A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Balayage Hair Experience

This Is what my hair looked like beforehand. You can see the odd colour placement in the front of my hair and how it looked when I swept it to the side. What I wanted was a much more blended look and this was just way too harsh for me.

I went along to my appointment at Headmasters in Brentwood which is located conveniently in the high street. Straight away I was greeted by a member of staff and shown to a chair, offered a drink and given some tasty gingerbread biscuits! My stylist and salon manager Laura came over and introduced herself and showed me the colour consultation boards. She asked me to choose the colours that I was most drawn to and go from there.

I was definitely more attracted to the “cooler” tones! Laura then presented me with the “colour cape” (such an awesome idea) – she used the cape so we could see what kind of colours brought out my features. The blues and pinks I had gone for on the cool board were definitely the winners!

With that in mind we set about thinking of the types of colours I’d like to see in my hair. We pulled up and looked at a couple of images from Pinterest. I wanted my hair to be more blended and to look like an actual balayage! (Also to get rid of the blonde stripe in the front of my face!) Laura definitely made me feel really confident that we were going to achieve the result I wanted. At previous hairdressers my stylist has never really talked to me, and I ended up questioning what on earth they were doing at times (blonde stripe, blonde stripe). But Laura made me feel totally at ease and chatted to me about everything we were doing.

Whilst Laura went off to mix up the colours she left me with the Headmasters blow dry menu to choose how I would like my hair to be styled. There are a range of gorgeous options from “westend waves” to the glamorous “luxe manhattan”. I opted for luxe manhattan as I love a curl in my hair.

Here is my hair before we started applying any colour, I have to admit it doesn’t look great from the back!

Balayage Hair Experience

Laura began to apply more of a melted colour to my hair so we could achieve the blended balayage I was after. She also applied some “super fine baby lights” around the front section of my hair. These are small sections placed through the hair for a very subtle glow.

L’oreal Smartbond was also mixed with all of the dyes. This helps to protect the hair bonds for a stronger hair fibre when applying colour.

After my dye was applied and left for a while I headed over to the Spa area. Look how lovely it is (all those hair products!) Here I had Smartbond step 2 applied to my hair as a pre-shampoo. This was followed by a shampoo and condition and a lovely head massage. The chairs in the spa area were also massage recliner chairs so you could lay back with your feet up and enjoy a relaxing massage.

From there It was back to the chair, and time for a blow dry. When Laura handed me the mirror to look at my hair I almost couldn’t believe it. The harsh lines and colour had gone and been replaced by a beautifully blended and more natural looking balayage. I honestly can’t stop looking in the mirror at my hair now and am absolutely thrilled with the results.

Amazing Results

Balayage Hair Experience

I can’t thank Headmasters enough for giving me this amazing experience. From start to finish I felt so well looked after and you can really see the quality from the products they use and also the skills of the stylists that work there.

My advice to you would be to get down to the salon ASAP whilst they are still running their £25 cut and style introductory offer. You won’t be disappointed!
