There is a lot of buzz (ba dum tss) around electric toothbrushes at the moment. I’d never actually used one before but very recently visited my dentist who recommended them as a better alternative to the standard manual option. Annoyingly a lot of the brushes can be quite pricey, I think I saw one in Boots priced at £275! So when I came across the Uber Sonic electric toothbrush I was immediately intrigued. The starter pack is £19 so immediately It struck me as a viable and affordable option for a brush.
Give Me The Info On The Brush
The toothbrush is made out of a brushed aluminium. The best way I can describe it is that its similar in feel to an iPhone! It even won a “red dot” award for design in 2016. Its extremely light in your hand but still feels well made.
When turned on (you just press the white button on the front of the brush) it apparently makes 35000 vibrations per minute. As a result it means plaque is removed 7 times more effectively than a regular manual toothbrush. Now I understand why my dentist recommended I get one..
The business model works so that you can buy the brush individually, or via a membership service. Where you receive new brush heads for the device every 2 months. As mentioned the brush is £19 and the refill service is a no-obligation cancel anytime type of thing with each refill pack costing £9.
With the brush you also receive a free whitening kit. I was kind of mesmerised by this when it arrived as all of the whitening gel comes in this little syringe! You are given two trays for your upper and bottom sets of teeth which you heat with hot water so they fit your own mouth. You then squirt the syringe whitening mix into the trays and wait for a whiter smile to develop!
Every year you remain a member they will send you out a brand new toothbrush and a whitening kit with no charge.
The brush head itself comes with a protection travel case, so you don’t have to worry about getting it dirty. To charge it you plug it into the supplied charging dock which connects to the mains.
Using It Daily
I’ve started incorporating this brush into my daily routine now. The head of the brush is quite small so it’s very easy to quickly get around and clean my teeth with ease. I found it a bit odd getting used to the vibrations at first. Sometimes I would bump my teeth with the brush, but after a couple of uses it was fine. They always feel nice and clean and definitely better than me doing it myself with my manual toothbrush! I often found harder to reach places would be given a less thorough clean.
Overall I am really enjoying the brush, I never really gave electronic toothbrushes a second thought before this. However now I feel like I am converted and don’t want to go back to using a normal one!
